Open Question: droid x locked to many attempts lost username?

so my brother was messing with my phone and tried the pattern to many times now it says "too many unlock attempts" the problem is i forgot the gmail account that goes with my phone because when i got it (in April) it wouldnt let me use my regular one so it made me make a new one. not knowing i would need it for this i didnt bother memorizing nor writing it down somewhere. is there any way to get the username from the computer or straight from verizon themselves online?

P.S. i dont want to hard reset it because i have unread txt messages :/

Soooo I I went roller skating with my friends and made a dumb mistake of leaving my phone in my jacket on the bench when returned My wallpaper was changed and everything was gone including my bmm contacts and email the only thing left was my pictures. ( that's how I know it my phone ) so I figured out that some one tried to hack my pass code but had not luck and if you exceed 10 try's it erases every thing so that what happen. So now the problem is to get my phone unlocked I know my pass code but it's not unlocking. So what I'm asking is how do I unlock it. HELP PLEASE

Text messaging rate increase

I've never been with Bell so I don't know how they operate. But would this be reasonable grounds to break contract without an ETF?

In this day and age the cost to transmit text messaging surely CANNOT be more. It's no more than a collusion with the other companies to raise rates and shrug it off because "the other guys are doing it too".

Who's head can I chew off at Bell about this? I do have a plan but will be texting to and from the US more and this ticks me off.

I pay $19 a month , free facebook and stuff If i terminate this it costs almost $300
I just bought an iPhone 3G from ebay and i put my sim card in, it is unlocked for optus but my sim isnt compatible or something it says "Locked Sim". Im really upset because i cannot use my new phone and i cannot afford the iphone plans

Is there a way I could get my SIM to work? or a cheap Optus plan?

A way to check if a D2G is unlocked without a SIM card?

A friend of mine (from the USA) proxy-bought a D2G for me, which was stated to be unlocked by the seller.

Is there a way to check if it was actually unlocked without a non-Verizon/Vodafone SIM?

The service code #073887* still requests the unlock code even for already unlocked devices, I have verified that with people from another forum.

Lost phone

2 days ago, I unfortunately lost my phone. I called Wind and the man said I could buy another SIM card and he'll transfer the services over, but I had to do something within 7 days. I bought my SIM card today along with my new phone, but im still pondering if I should call back just to make sure I have everything set and ready to go.

So the point of this thread is, I can't remember what he said I needed to do within seven days, anyone have an idea?

P.S I asked the lady at the store if she activated my new phone, and she said yes.

Struggling with this ADB thing

any help would be greatly appreciated. I currently have a rooted Droid 1. Thinking of upgrading to a Droid charge. However, I will not do it unless I can root it. I took the short cut a while back and rooted my Droid with easy root. Currently, there are no one click root methods for the Charge. I am trying to learn how to root the long way. Well, the semi long way using adb. I am trying to go step by step (albeit baby steps) and learn how to go into my device using adb. I downloaded the drivers for my device (although I think they were already d/l'd properly), d/l'd the android sdk files, and tried to follow the steps on the "unlockr" site to get into my device.

Everytime I get to the command line where you type in "adb devices", I get a "adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch files". can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bought it today after being 'grossly irritated' by T-Mobile's billing and other silly issues surrounding their latest 4G Mobile Hotspot device.

Intended to replace 56Kb modem at home for user that does only light website surfing (little video, no mp3, etc.).

Walmart had them at $79 + $20 refill card.

Went home, took about 10-15 minutes after plugging it into Windows 7 PC to get it installed.

Had to open file manager and double-click install.exe on the USB stick to run the install program first to get their Connection Manager installed along with device drivers, then led through their web site's device activation pages to get the phone number assigned to this device.

Closed connection, then opened up the registration page to enter personal info, billing preference (credit or pre-paid cards), and month-to-month plan desired.

YES. The Walmart 1GB/month for $20 was listed among the 3 choices!

Couple of questions from a newbie with droid 2

Hi!

I got my droid 2 yesterday, have been playing with it for a while, will try to root it today. Some questions that I have been thinking as I get ready to take the plunge, hopefully someone can help me:

1. What app are you using to track the data used (in PP), so as to make sure one is not going over? Some have mentioned about 3G watchdog/Traffic Info/Traffic stat..not sure which one is the preferred one.

2. How do you remove the bloatware from droid 2? What apps do you remove to clean up the system?

3. Is there a way to transfer contacts from iPhone or Mac's address book to my droid2?

4. Is it true that if I update the software on Droid, then it is possible that the root will not work? If yes, will the software update be automatically pushed or I will be asked if I want to install it? Is there a way to block auto software update? The current software on my droid is 2.2.

5. What ROM are using on droid 2? Any step by step instructions for a newbie?
(I have been spending too much time reading, so getting confused).

6. Is it possible to use iTunes to load music on the phone (SD card)? If yes, how? If not, how can I transfer music as my collection is on iTunes in mac.

7. I connected my phone to PC in USB mode. Didn't install the Motorola drivers. In my computer, I only see the contents of the SD card (e.g., browser, android, download, mms, etc.), but not of phone's internal memory. Is it because I did not install the drivers or something else?

8. Is it ok to use Windows 7 based PC to download the root (Z4root) and other files to transfer to SD card on phone?

9. If I remove some apps, and then install a different ROM, what happens? Will I need to re-delete those apps?

AT&T has updated their 4G network maps (att.com/network) and many, many more cities are covered now!

California has Sacramento, Bay Area, Modesto, Greater LA, and San Diego now.

Also added: Minneapolis, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Kansas City, Tampa, Palm Bay, Miami, Myrtle Beach, Sycracuse NY, NYC, Eastern PA, South Bend Indiana, etc.

Open Question: how do you know if you need to purchase a data plan for an unlocked phone brought to verizon?

Another Headscratcher

I have another little problem. I keep having this little window pop up telling me that my charger is "disconnected" and to unplug the charger from the outlet to conserve energy. This thing pops up over and over again, several times in just a minute. Needless to say the phone is charging so it isn't disconnected. BUT, if I hold part of the charging cord in my hand, if I provide a bit of slack near the mini USB side of the cord I don't get this pop up at all. Unless someone stepped on the USB plug, I had no idea that a charging cord would start to fail like this. Anyone else experience this type of failure?
